From 12 to 14 November 2024, Mission Locale Picardie Maritime welcomed partners from the INTERREG Terremplo project for a Study Visit. The event enabled participants, including representatives from Ireland, Belgium and the Pays de la Loire, to find out about the initiatives put in place to improve the integration of young people into the labour market.

Presentation of services

Sylvie NICOLAY presented the Mission Locale's Service Jeunes, which supports over 2,000 young people aged between 16 and 26 each year. This service is aimed at young people who have left the school system, whether or not they have any qualifications. It offers support in various areas such as access to employment, training, housing and health. The Mission Locale also organises drop-in sessions in a number of communes and works in Abbeville's priority neighbourhoods to reach out to young people who might otherwise be on the margins of the support system.

Karine Toussain then described the Local Integration and Employment Plan (PLIE), which aims to facilitate access to employment for people in difficulty. The PLIE focuses on people aged over 26 who are far from employment, and mobilises various local players to create an effective integration ecosystem.

Christelle Cavillon presented the Business Service, which processed 470 job offers in 2023. This service facilitates contact between young jobseekers and companies, by offering short circuits and events such as job dating.

The École de la 2e Chance (E2C) was also presented as an important scheme to help young people reintegrate into the education and employment system. Aimed at young people aged 16 to 25 who have dropped out of school, the E2C offers a personalised programme combining refresher courses and work placements.

HUB results

Discussions on the first three HUBs in Picardie Maritime

Christophe BARBIER shared the results of the first three HUBs organised as part of the Terremplo project. These meetings addressed themes such as the integration of young people, the development of cross-disciplinary skills and the challenges of the digital transition. Participants put forward various ideas, such as the use of video CVs and the development of car-sharing to improve access to employment.

Conclusion

This Study Visit was a valuable opportunity to strengthen collaboration between the European partners and exchange best practice in the field of vocational integration. The discussions highlighted the importance of adapting support tools and methods to the specific needs of young people in order to promote their integration into the labour market.
